Teach Me Mommy
By Jill Dunford

Review by: Yvonne Gaudet

“Teach Me Mommy”, is the ultimate answer to my prayers as a day care provider! This awesome preschool learning guide is very thorough in helping parents, teachers, and day care providers to plan activities for fun-filled, educational days. The book is divided into twenty-six themes with an average of three to six days worth of activities based on the theme. Each day is then broken down into segments consisting of different activities such as stories, songs, finger plays, crafts, activities, and snack surrounding the days topic. For instance, in chapter eleven, the theme is December Holidays. This theme consists of eleven days of different activities surrounding the many topics we can teach about in December. Including, Santa Claus, Christmas, decorations, menorahs, dreidels, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah to name a few!

You can easily adapt these outlines to suit your available materials and stories. You can choose to follow it to a tee, or add topics to cover on your own. Geared toward preschoolers, this book enables the parents or caregivers to layout the groundwork of a structured learning experience, in helping to prepare the child for school. With over three hundred pages of learning fun, a recipe section, music section, and special holiday section, this book is a very valuable resource for parents, caregivers, and teachers alike.

This is a must-have book, even if you only use it for special holidays when your school-aged children are home. It will be well worth the smiles! “Mom, I’m bored!” will become a saying of the past for your child. Don’t we all wish to give our preschoolers the head start they so deserve? For under $25.00, this book is the perfect answer for the parent who struggles with the cost of nursery school. Parents are the best teachers and role models for their own children; why not make the best of it!
