Need:
Styrofoam meat tray ( regular size), Stickers, Paper Clips
Directions: Cut
out 2 rectangles from the styrofoam. One 6" x 2", the other
6"x1". Shape the rectangles into a round shape. On the
6"x1" shape cut out a hole in the
middle, try to stay away from the edges of the shape. Slip the
6"x2" shape into the hole of the 6"x1" shape. Decorate
with stickers and put a paper clip on the nose of the plane. These do
break easily, so tell the children to be careful. For this being such a
simple project the children had lots of fun and are still talking about
their planes.

Need: paper
towel tubes, popsicle stick
Directions:
Take a paper towel tube & cut 1/2 through it about 3 inches from the
front,
then cut 1/2 way through again about 2 inches further down - remove this
section of the tubing (top half). Glue a second towel tube in opening to
form a T. Cut a slit in the end of the body tube & insert a slightly
smashed toilet paper tube. Paint. Use popsicle stick to make an x as the
propeller. Use another craft stick broken in half as landing gear.
Hot Air Balloons

Need: Balloon,
paper mache' paint. glue, string, cup or berry basket
Directions:
Paper mache' a blown up balloon. When dry, paint it, glue 3 pieces of
string at the bottom & connect a paper cup with holes punched in the
top & tie. Can
use a berry basket in place of cup.
Another Hot Air Balloon

Need: white
poster board, crayons or markers, paper lunch bag, yarn
Directions: Cut
a large balloon shape from a white poster board & have kids decorate
both sides with crayons or markers. Cut a paper lunch bag about 1/3 from
the bottom for the basket. Punch 2 holes on the bottom of the balloon
shape & on the short side of the lunch sack. Attach basket with yarn.
Hang either type from the ceiling.
Car air freshener

Need: Thin
cardboard, marker, scissors, scraps of felt in different colors, tacky
glue, clear essential oil (non-alcoholic perfume), string
Directions:
1. Draw a shape or trace a large cookie cutter on a piece of cardboard.
2. Cut out the shape. Use it to trace and cut out two replicas of felt.
3. Glue one felt piece on either side of the cardboard. Add felt
decorations.
4. Rub 10 - 15 drops of essential oil onto the felt.
5. Poke a hole in the top, thread with string.

Directions:
Make
paper airplanes and let the children decorate them with felts. The have
flying contest to see how far, how high, etc they can make their plane go.

Need: Large Bulletin Board paper, crayons
and markers, old magazines, and glue
Directions:
Using large rolled bulletin board paper have students plan and draw a
scene. Share the jobs. One can draw a train track while another
draws a road, another clouds, maybe a lake, house or trees. On days
to come have them gradually fill up the mural with cut and paste vehicles
(from Old magazines works great), airplanes, trains, cars, boats, trucks
or even hot air balloons! They love "large" projects and
are always proud of what they did.
Margarine-Tub

Directions:
Press a ball of clay in the bottom of a margarine tub. Insert a straw in
the clay; then tape a decorated paper into the top of the straw.
Meat
Tray Barges

Directions: Punch a hole in opposite ends of
each of several foam meat trays. Connect the trays with yarn to make a
barge.
Egg

Need: Cardboard Egg Carton, paint, paint
brush, circle stickers, cardboard tubes, and other collage materials
Directions: Give each of your children a row
of six egg cups cut lengthwise from a cardboard egg car-ton. Have the
children turn their egg carton sections upside down and paint them to make
trains. When the cartons are dry, have the children add de-tails such as
round slicker wheels or cardboard-tube smokestacks.

Paint & Car Wash

Directions: Fill pie pans with different
colors of paint. Let the children drive matchbox cars through the paint
and onto paper. When finished they can wash their cars in the car wash.
Use a tub of soapy water and toothbrushes.

Need: 1-12
x18 sheet blue construction paper per child, 2 red rectangles per child, 4
small black squares per child, 1 thin rectangular strip for child, 4 gray
wheels per child
Directions:
Have
the children cut out all the shapes then glue on the 2 red rectangles on
the blue construction paper to make a train. Next have them glue on
the small black squares to be the windows of the train. Then have
them glue on the wheels. Next have them glue on the thin rectangular
strip in between the two trains to connect them. Have them draw
tracks that the train is sitting on. They can also draw trees,
grass, etc.
