Need: crepe paper, cardstock ,small
styrofoam plates, brass fastners, yarn, and tacky glue.
Directions: Cut one piece of crepe paper 20
inches long (the average size of my preschoolers heads) and about 5
inches wide. Fold and glue together. So you have a strip 20 inches long
and about 2 1/2 inches wide now. The key is to make sure that the give
(elastic pull), in the crepe paper is cut so it is the length. This will
cause the hat to fit around the child's head and fit snug. Take 1 small
syrofoam plate and turn it up side down, take tacky glue and glue the
cut edge of the crepe paper all around the plates edge facing the inside
of the plate, with the fold up in the air. Let dry. Then turn your plate
right side up glue a square piece of cardstock on top of the plate,
stick a long brass fastner through the middle of the hat on top of the
cardstock and poke all the way through the plate. Take a piece of
packing tape and tape over the brass fastner underneath the hat so it
doesn't hurt the top of their head or scratch them. Then loop a yarn
tassle around the brass fastner. I have made these for the past 3 years
and we have never had one fall off. They are very simple to make.

Need: plastic bowls, posterboard, brass
fastener, DMC floss, elastic
Directions: I have to make 60 graduation
caps for our 3 4's classes and have found that plastic bowls work great
and are just the right size. I cut posterboard 8"x8" and
fasten it to the bowl with a brass fastener. I make a tassel out
of dmc floss. They are very inexpensive and easy to make. I
also use a piece of elastic so they don't fall off. I know this is
not original but I had tried to make them so many other ways that took
much longer.
